The Chinese toon tree, also known as the Chinese toon, is a deciduous tree in the Chinese toon family. It can grow up to 30 meters tall, with a diameter of 1 meter at breast height. It has two to three odd lobed compound leaves and is 20-40 centimeters long. The flowers are fragrant, and the sepals are deeply lobed with five lobes. The lobes are oval or elongated oval in shape, and the petals are light purple and spoon shaped. The filaments are tube purple and 7-8 millimeters long. The anthers are 10 and grow on the inner side of the lobes. The drupe is spherical or oval in shape and 1-2 centimeters long. It is produced in various provinces and regions south of the Yellow River in China, widely distributed in tropical and subtropical Asia abroad, and also cultivated in temperate regions. It grows in low altitude open fields, roadsides, or sparse forests. The flowering period is from April to May, and the fruiting.
